Author: Sulzzz
Author’s Notes: Greetings everyone!!
I will like to present Xion Fx Beta 2 theme. Ive been working on this theme for quite a long time. The First beta was released to 20 testers and I would like to thank them for their great feedback. Xion fx has its own installer to make life a bit easier for the user. It will patch your theme service and edit system files flawlessly.
Xion Fx only works with Vista x86 SP1
Download from here too: ftp://download.patrick-loewer.de/Xion.exe
I would like to thank Patrick Lower for making the installer (Danke)
I would like to thank X3reme for the metallic back forward buttons (This will go in the final version) I was just lazy to make my own back forward buttons.
Anyways enjoy this release
UPDATE: You can find uninstaller here: ftp://download.patrick-loewer.de/XionUninstaller.exe

the dll is call browserui.dll
July 15th, 2008 at 8:05 am

is there xion beta 2 for vista ultimate 32-bit?
July 20th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
The uninstaller does not work (as mentioned several times already), leaving a stufy fucking X on all my windows. Plus the damn theme doesnt work anyway. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!
July 20th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
FIX!!! (for those who cannot roll back or dont want to reinstall Vista)
OK, first this exe/theme does NOT work on x86 Home Prem SP1, plus the uninstaller doesnt work and leave and mess all over you computer IMO. The installer writes over all these files;
c:\windows\system32\authui.dll
c:\windows\system32\browseui.dll
c:\windows\system32\oobefldr.dll
c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll
c:\windows\branding\\shellbrd\shellbrd.dll
c:\windows\system32\wmploc.dll
c:\windows\system32\shsvcs.dll
c:\windows\system32\themeui.dll
c:\windows\system32\uxtheme.dll
If you’ve only used the installer exe once, then find the same files except with the .old extension and write them all to disk. If you’ve installed this twice (like me), then you’ll need to copy the files from another computer with the same build (luckly I have a laptop with the same build on it).
Next, d/l either a DOS boot disk or a linux boot disk or any boot disk that lets you gain access to your PC without actually needing to go into Windows (because you wont be able to write over the files if you are in Windows). Then simply replace the dll files in the c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\branding\shellbrd directories and reboot. This set everything back to normal for me without the need to reinstall vista.
July 27th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
hey, i totally want to get my vista theme back to normal too but i cant even find the “.old” files on my comp! Was i suposed to back them up manually or does the installer back them up for me? if so where does it back them up to!?! I think i have an idea on how we could get the old startup and buttons again though. If some incredibly nice person could just post the ORIGINAL “.dll” files for download somewhere and give a link to it HERE, then couldnt we just overwrite the replaced “xion” .dll’s with the originals? If it wouldn’t work thats fine im just throwin out ideas, but someone seriously needs to find a simple solution to this problem. Any help would be great, thanks!

August 15th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
ok found solution after hard thinking…
i ran avira / ntfs4dos (through ultimate boot cd, you can find it in various sites for download) and copied the originals of these files (thanx to “paranomos” psoting above):
c:\windows\system32\authui.dll
c:\windows\system32\browseui.dll
c:\windows\system32\oobefldr.dll
c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll
c:\windows\branding\\shellbrd\shellbrd.dll
c:\windows\system32\wmploc.dll
c:\windows\system32\shsvcs.dll
c:\windows\system32\themeui.dll
c:\windows\system32\uxtheme.dll
These files intervene in the browser mode of the explorer and such, i.e. buttons, etc.
case closed, all back to normal. it was a bummer not being able to restore something i wanted to!!!
hope this helps other ppl.

September 6th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
DO NOT USE THIS!
It’s horrible. It completely messed up my PC.
After downloading and installing, I was asked to restart my computer.
After doing so, instead of rebooting to a new and exciting desktop, I ended up with a black screen. And that’s it!
Thankfully, I still have the recovery disks that came with my computer, and was able to restore to a previous point, but I would feel very sorry for someone who did not have that luxury.
STAY AWAY, it isn’t worth it!
Also, other people have had serious trouble with uninstalling, and with recovering old files.

Hi everybody for all those couldn’t able to uninstall this theme…then try this method:
>First thing,you need all the system files which this theme installer modified.NO need to google on the net for these files…these are located in c:\Program files\Xio\Backup
>Now for the uninstalling part:restart your PC,go to safe mode,Run the Xio fx Beta 2 theme installer,accept license,click next,bla bla…finally it asks you to restart.Now this is important step.DO NOT RESTART(If restarted you cannot modify de system files).
>At this moment,you can now replace all the modified files.Restore all the files from backup folder to the respective path,restart.
>You should now be able to see your original Vista Theme.

I can confirm that Vikky’s method works to get rid of this bad software.
Start in Safe Mode;
Reinstall the Xion theme (a.k.a. malware);
When complete, don’t restart the machine;
Copy the original files from ..\Program Files\Xio\BackUp to ..\Windows\system32 replacing the defiled ones;
Restart the machine to restore to its original state.
The author of this Xion theme (Patrick Loewer) should be reported for not being clear that his software can’t be uninstalled. Court, a fine, and a ban on writing software for computers for some years seems appropriate.

Hi friends,a slight modification to my previous post:
Modification:Before re-installing Xion theme for the second time,you copy the Backup content in c:\Program Files\Xio to some another location and use these files for further patching.

thanks man,for getting me rid of this malware.
September 22nd, 2008 at 8:44 pm
theres i much easer solution!
just patch uxtheme so you can download differtent themes. i can swicht between like 20 different themes. i have vista sp 1.
of course it doesnt remove xion but you can change to original vista theme
visit this site how to patch 3 different dll. files. i recomend you do it manually and not with vistaglass.
use hijackthis to know wich version you have of vista or xp.
